He documented the circumstances leading up to her murder, which he called “merciful,” on eight wet pages from a notebook that was found.
Petito, 22, had just one month into the journey when she vanished from Grand National Teton Park when the pair were travelling across the US in a campervan. A few weeks later, her remains were discovered, and an autopsy revealed that she had been strangled manually.
In an “unexpected tragedy,” according to Laundrie, 23, Petito fell into a brook and suffered injuries. She then asked for the anguish to end. This case has been widely discussed everywhere and stirred lots of controversies.

Who Was Brian Laundrie?
Brian Laundrie, a native of Florida in the United States, was born on November 18, 1997. His mother’s name was Roberts Richards, his father’s name was Christopher Laundriw, and he also has a sister named Cassie.
Brian Bayport attended Blue Point High School with her sweetheart Gabby, and the two were a great pair up to Gabby’s passing. In addition to working as a carpenter by profession, Brian enjoys modelling.
Why He Was Made Suspect In The Case?
Both Petito, 22, and Laundrie, 23, left New York on a road trip in a white van. They continued to share their photos and experiences on social media while documenting their road journey, using the hashtag #vanlife.
But in late August, all those posts simply came to an end. On September 1, Laundrie took the same vehicle back to her house in North Florida without Petito. The family of Petito, who reported their daughter missing on September 11, 2021, is unable to get in touch with her.
When Laundrie drove Petito’s car from Wyoming to his parent’s house in North Port, Florida after she disappeared, he raised suspicions by declining to reveal her location.
A warrant for his arrest was issued after he was named as a person of interest in the inquiry due to the possibility that he had exploited Petito’s debit card to make payments. Soon after this, Laundrie left his Florida home on September 13 and it was reported that he had vanished on September 17.
When Petito’s skeleton was found on the 19th of September, an autopsy indicated that Petito had been killed.
A month of rumours about Laundrie’s whereabouts and a comprehensive search of the area close to his Florida home later, on October 20, Laundrie’s skeletal remains were discovered in the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park.
