Although the first evidence suggested that her lover Biran Laundrie committed the murder, no one has been able to locate him. Laundrie, who had disappeared about the same time and nationwide protests were held against him, was discovered dead from a self-inflicted bullet wound in the Florida forest in October of the previous year.
This brought the case to an end since everyone now believes that nothing will be done. But the most recent discoveries made this case transparent and given us additional insight into what actually occurred.
On October 20, 2021, the FBI located Laundrie’s notebook and skeletal bones near the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park. The Sun was able to retrieve Laundrie’s notebook, in which he stated Gabby Petito was suffering from a wound and would “wake in pain.”
He said that he “ended her life, mercifully” because that’s what “she wanted.”
Since then, everyone is again exploring this case and tried to find more things about Gabby Petito. So, here’s what we know about her and her case:
Who Was Gabby Petito?
On March 19, 1999, Gabrielle Venora Petito was born in Blue Point, New York. Nichole Schmitt is her mother, Joe Petito is her father, and Joseph Schmitt is her stepfather. She has always maintained a presence on numerous social media channels.
From Bayport-Blue Point High School in Bayport, New York, she received her high school diploma in 2017. Gabby chose to become a YouTuber instead of attending college and loved what she did.
Since March 2019, Gabby has been seeing Brian Laundrie until her death. Although they had been friends since elementary school, they only lately began dating.
Her Death Cause
The corpse of Petito was discovered in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park in September 2021. She was brutally murdered, according to a medical examiner.
The Case Related To Gabby Petito
While they were embarking on a van life voyage across the United States in August 2021, Brian Laundrie killed Gabby Petito. The journey started on July 2, 2021, and Petito was supposed to be gone for four months; nevertheless, she vanished in late August.
Laundrie sparked questions when he returned Petito’s vehicle from Wyoming to his parent’s home in North Port, Florida after she vanished, refusing to discuss her whereabouts.
He was identified as a person of interest in the investigation, and a warrant for his arrest was issued on suspicion that he had used Petito’s debit card to make withdrawals. On September 13, Laundrie left his Florida home, and on September 17, his disappearance was reported.
When Petito’s remains were discovered on September 19, an autopsy revealed that she had been killed.
Laundrie’s skeletal bones were found in the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park on October 20 after a month of rumours about his whereabouts and a thorough investigation of the region near his Florida residence.
On 23rd November, it was revealed that Laundrie had died from a gunshot. Later, according to the FBI, Laundrie confessed to murdering Petito in a notepad that was discovered next to the victim’s remains.
Due to the Petito couple’s social media interactions, police body camera footage, 9-1-1 emergency dispatch call recordings, and eyewitness testimony, the story received widespread media attention.
