Chess Olympiad 2022 Format, Schedule, Date, Time, Trophy, And Other Details
The competition is being run under the Swiss system. There will be 90 minutes allotted for each game, with 30 second breaks after 40 moves and an additional 30 minutes after the 40th move. While the game is still in process, a player may request a draw at any time.
Each team will compete against another team in a four-on-four match over the course of 11 rounds. One name from each team may be submitted for the reserve roster. Based on the match points they have accumulated throughout the course of each round, teams will be graded. When two or more teams have played an equal number of matches, the tie-breaker will be determined by a variety of variables.
The competition’s first round began on July 29 and will end with the final round on August 9. Except for the championship round, which will start at 10:00 IST, all rounds will start at 15:00 IST. The only rest day for the competition will occur on August 4 and begin following the sixth round.

Chess Olympiad 2022 Round 5 Events, Results, Winners, And Round 6 Schedule
As the Indian 2nd team overcame Spain to join Armenia as the only teams with a flawless start to the Chennai Olympiad Open section, 16-year-old Gukesh recorded his fifth straight victory. The 17-year-old Abdusattorov tied Gukesh’s score as Uzbekistan thrashed Slovakia 4-0 to go into a tie for first place with Iran, the United States, Iran, and giant-killing Cuba just one point behind them. In other open section games, India A and India C recorded similar victories over Romania and Croatia, respectively.
Leinier Dominguez, 38, of the USA, who improved to 3.5/4 by defeating Maxim Rodshtein after Fabiano Caruana, Levon Aronian, and Wesley So all managed to draw rather quickly, helped the team keep within a point of the leads. The major surprise team with 9 points is the 32nd-seeded Cubans, who followed wins over Hungary and Ukraine with a thrashing of the 6th-seeded Azerbaijan. Cuba won 2.5-1.5 and came very near to make it 3-1 despite a victory for Shakhriyar Mamedyarov on the top board.
Tania Sachdev once again provided the winning point for her team as India A won the women’s division tie for the fifth time in a row. After Koneru Humpy, Harika Dronavalli Harika, and R. Vaishali drew their matches, Tania’s win helped India defeat France by a score of 2.5 to 1.5. On the other side, Team C held Brazil to a 2-2 tie while the Indian women’s B team suffered a 0-3 loss against the highly favored Georgian team.
On Tuesday’s sixth round matches of Open division, India A will play against Uzbekistan while India B will face a tough test against Armenia. Meanwhile, India C will play against Lithuania and attempt to rise in the rankings.
