2024 Norway Chess schedule, date, venue, format, & key players
The Norway Chess event will follow an enthralling double round-robin format. In classical games, players will adhere to a time control of 120 minutes, with a 10-second increment after move 40. Moreover, an Armageddon option is available, granting white 10 minutes and black 7 minutes. Simultaneously, the Norway Chess Women’s Tournament will unfold in the same venue, boasting an identical player count, format, and prize fund structure.
This year’s Norway Chess will feature numerous top-ranked players, including Norway’s Magnus Carlsen, the reigning World Champion Ding Liren, Hikaru Nakamura, as well as Women’s World Champion Ju Wenjun and Lei Tingjie. As per the tournament guidelines, each win in classical games is worth three points, while an Armageddon victory will be worth 1.5 points.
