It’s with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to @ifbbprogustavobadell… he passed today at the age of 50, way too young. Who is Gustavo Badell?
Gustavo Badell was a renowned Venezuelan bodybuilder. He has been in the news because he reportedly passed away at the age of 50.
He was famously known as “The Freakin’ ‘Rican.” He was born on 3 November 1972 in Venezuela. However, at the age of 22, he moved to Puerto Rico. He was married to Jessica Rodriguez. They have four children named Barbie Ann Badell, Nicole Marie Badell, Michael Gustavo Badell, and Christian Carlos Badell.
His height was 5 feet, 7.7 inches, or 172 cm, whereas his competition weight was 245 pounds, or 111 kg. At the time of his death, he was 50 years old.
His career
Around the age of fifteen, Gustavo Badell started weightlifting to get stronger for boxing. Gustavo developed muscle very quickly, and at the age of 19, he competed in and won the 1991 Junior Caribbean Bodybuilding Championships, his first bodybuilding competition.
He won the 1997 Caribbean Championships, which allowed him to enter the professional ranks after six years of weight training. He participated in the Grand Prix of Germany in 1998. In 1999, he participated in the International Federation of Bodybuilders Night of Champions, placing 14th overall.
Gustavo Badell finished 18th in his first Ironman Pro Invitational in 2000. In 2002, when he made his first Mr. Olympia appearance, he placed 24th. In 2004, he competed in his first Arnold Classic, finishing seventh. At first, he didn’t do well in the professional rankings, but in 2003, he started doing better because of the assistance of fellow bodybuilder Milos Sarcev.
Along with being on the cover of Flex magazine, Badell has been featured in several fitness and magazine pieces. He has also been featured in a number of MuscleTech commercials, usually promoting the weight-gain supplements Masstech and Nitrotech Hardcore.
Cause of death of Gustavo Badell
While the exact cause of his death is unknown, many reports claim that he died due to a stroke. While anti-vaxxers have claimed he died due to the Covid vaccine, his vaccination status isn’t known.
