After becoming the champions in the inaugural edition of FIH Hockey Men’s Nations Cup, South Africa will be eligible to play in the FIH Pro League of 2023–24 season. Due to the heroics of captain Dayaan Cassiem’s brace, South Africa was able to prevail in the championship game by a score of 4-3.

2022 Men’s FIH Nations Cup Final Results, Score, Winner, Final Positions, & Other Details
The inaugural edition of FIH Hockey Men’s Nations Cup culminated with South Africa getting crowned as champions after their win over Ireland thanks to a masterful performance by captain Dayaan Cassiem. This win has also ensured South Africa’s qualification for for the 2023-24 FIH Hockey Pro League season. In a fiercely contested game final South Africa ultimately won 4-3, the Potchefstroom crowd was treated to an end-to-end show of offensive hockey.
From South Africa’s squad, Dayaan Cassiem scored twice during the important finals, while Tevin Kok and Mustaphaa Cassiem scored one goal each. Dayaan Cassiem scored two excellent goals for the hosts during the first half before winning the penalty stroke in fourth quarter, which was converted by his younger brother Mustaphaa, and giving South Africa the victory.
In the all-Asian contest for the bronze medal earlier in the day, Korea defeated Malaysia. After a closely contested game in which France scored twice in the first quarter but Japan responded to even the score, France concluded the season in fifth place, defeating Japan in the penalty shootouts. Usama Bashir’s goal in the 58th minute gave Pakistan their first victory of the competition as Canada and Pakistan battled it out in a nine-goal thriller in the 7th place playoff.
