The Lillehammer Ice Hockey Club confirmed the news about Alexander Reichenberg’s death on their website. In the statement, the club called Reichenberg as one of their greatest talents.

It is unbelievably sad to think that he will never get to hear the audience’s tactful shouts in Eidsiva Arena and that we who sat in the stands will not get to see the player with the big smile, the extra feint or the hard-hitting shot from the drop circle in the power play.

Rest in Peace, No. 61. You will always be remembered as an artist.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to family, girlfriend and team-mates.”

The statement further added that the club published the news with the consent of Reichenberg’s family.

Alexander Reichenberg bio

Aleksander Reichenberg was a professional ice hockey player who was born on June 13, 1992, in Mora, Sweden. He was the son of former Swedish hockey player Ronny Reichenberg. Aleksander just recently passed away on May 5, 2024, at the young age of 31. Prior to his death, Aleksander played as a forward for IK Oskarshamn in the Swedish Hockey League and the Norwegian national team.

Alexander Reichenberg stood at a height of 1.85 m and roughly weighed around 79 kg.

Alexander Reichenberg career

Reichenberg enjoyed a very successful international career as a professional ice hockey player across the Czech Republic, Sweden, and Austria. He played for the Norwegian national team from U18 all the way through to the A team and represented Norway at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang back in 2018. Notably, the Lillehammer website stated that Reichenberg had his best season to date with 44 points in the regular campaign. The Norwegian forward also led the team as their captain throughout his final campaign.
