The National Men’s Hockey League’s inaugural season, scheduled for 2024–2025, is expected to be a historic event in Indian hockey history. The league was announced this week.
The nation’s best female hockey players are expected to compete in this league in an exciting exhibition of skill which is just around the corner. As per the Hockey India president Dilip Tirkey, he stated that the league will act as a catalyst for the expansion and “development” of women’s hockey across the nation and is evidence of the steadfast commitment to women’s sports.

On the other hand, the Hockey India Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh stated that the upcoming league will encourage young females to follow their “passion for hockey” in addition to provide a stage for top competition.
The league, which will be held into two phases is all set to be hosted by the same venue where the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy and the FIH Olympic Qualifiers were recently held.
If there is a draw in the match, there will be a shoot-out battle. There will be one bonus point given to the shoot-out winner. In regular time, three points will be awarded to the winner.
A shootout winner receives one point after a draw in addition to one bonus point, for a total of two points. If there is a tie, one point goes to the loser of the shootout nevertheless, in a regular time match, the loser receives no points.
