On Wednesday, the Indian women’s hockey team had a disappointing start to the European leg of the FIH Pro League 2023-24 season, suffering a 5-0 defeat against Argentina in Antwerp. Competing at the Wilrijkse Plein Antwerp, the world No. 9 India struggled against the second-ranked Argentina. For Argentina, Agustina Gorzelany (13’), Valentina Raposo (24’), Victoria Miranda (41’), and Julieta Jankunas (53’, 59’) scored the goals.
In a thrilling men’s FIH Pro League tie, third-placed India and fourth-placed Argentina battled to a 2-2 draw, with India clinching the shootout 5-4 to secure a bonus point. For India, Mandeep Singh and Lalit scored the goals.
