The university, which specializes in the education of people with disabilities, named Judge Vishvesha to supervise student concerns for a period of three years. His landmark decision, rendered on his final day of district judge duties on January 31, required Hindus to make preparations for their religious observance in the closed cellar of the Gyanvapi Mosque.
Shailendra Kumar Pathak, the petitioner, stated that his grandfather prayed there up until December 1993, with the break being ascribed to the fallout from the 1992 destruction of the Babri Masjid.
The verdict came after the Allahabad High Court ordered the Archaeological Survey of India to conduct a survey, which revealed that the mosque was built on the ruins of a Hindu temple during the time of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
