Corporal Vicky Pahade, who tragically lost his life in a terrorist attack in the Poonch region of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, May 4, was due to return home to celebrate his son’s birthday on Tuesday, May 7th.

Havildar Pahade, who had served in the Indian Air Force for 13 years, was one of the victims in a terrorist attack on an Indian Air Force convoy in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, on May 4.

During the attack, 5 IAF soldiers were injured and airlifted to the Udhampur Army Hospital for emergency treatment. Unfortunately, Pahade, who was a native of Chhindwara, succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical care late at night.

33 year old Corporal Vicky Pahade is survived by his wife and their five-year-old son, his mother and three sisters. Pahade was born on September 1, 1990, in Nonia Karbal, Chhindwara.

He was the only brother among three sisters and had been recruited into the IAF as a Havildar in 2011. Known for being doted on by his family, Pahade had also experienced the loss of his father, Dimakchand Pahade, a few years prior.

Pahade was from the Nonia-Karbal village in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara district and had recently visited his family for his sister’s wedding on April 18, according to the information provided by the residents.

What Did the Indian Air Force Say?

The 33-year-old official Pahade had joined the Indian Air Force (IAF) in 2011. The Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal V. R. Chaudhari, along with all IAF personnel, expressed their respect for Corporal Vicky Pahade’s sacrifice in a tweet earlier on X/Twitter.

The IAF personnel and Air Chief Marshal expressed in a tweet, “The CAS Air Chief Marshal V. R. Chaudhari and all personnel of the Air Force salute the braveheart Corporal Vicky Pahade, who made the supreme sacrifice in Poonch Sector, in the service of the nation.”

The tweet further reads, “Our deepest condolences to the bereaved family. We stand firmly by your side in this hour of grief.”

What Exactly Happened?

Corporal Pahade was killed in a militant attack on an IAF convoy in Poonch, which also left five other IAF personnel injured. The IAF stated that their soldiers responded by returning fire during the attack.

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath paid tribute to the fallen soldier on social media, saying, “I salute the martyrdom of Vicky Pahade, a resident of Nonia-Karbal, Chhindwara district, Madhya Pradesh, and pay my tribute to the immortal martyr.”

The attack, which occurred on May 4, highlights the continuing risks faced by security forces in the region. The Indian Air Force reiterated its support for Corporal Pahade’s family and all those affected by the incident.
