DAZN is a London-founded streaming service startup, owned by billionaire Len Blavatnik’s Access Industries. According to the company, the correct pronunciation is ‘Da Zone’. The streaming service has been dubbed as the ‘Netflix of Sport’ and rightly so, having expanded to over 200 countries in 2020.

Despite initially being founded in London, DAZN is starting its expansion in England just recently. In fact, the popular streaming service originally gained prominence in America. Currently, Kevin Mayer serves as the chairman of DAZN.

DAZN making waves with huge spendings

DAZN has spent quite a huge sum in monopolising the television rights for combat sports like boxing and UFC, as well as other sports like the NFL is the US. The streaming service also spent huge sums on securing boxing rights in the US.

Fight promoter Eddie Hearn received a $1billion budget for an eight-year contract. Meanwhile, Canelo Alvarez initially secured a $365million eleven-fight deal.

Besides the US market, DAZN is also now expanding deeper into the UK market. DAZN agreed on a massive deal to secure Hearn’s stable in the UK from July 2021. Prior to that, the Matchroom boss held an exclusive deal with Sky Sports since 2012 for the UK and Ireland.

The following year, Anthony Joshua ended his eight-year TV broadcast pact with Sky Sports. Joshua made the move after deciding to instead sign a huge money streaming deal with DAZN.

Much to the delight of fans, DAZN will provide the live TV broadcast and live stream of the Joshua vs Franklin fight. The live coverage will begin at around 7pm and fans can access it on the DAZN website or DAZN app. Fans can access the live streaming service for a price of £9.99 per month.

Fans can use smart TVs, game consoles, connected devices, mobile, tablets and computers to access the live streaming. Meanwhile, DAZN subscribers also have the option to register and watch the fight on DAZN 1 HD on the Sky+HD or Sky Q box (channel 429). However, DAZN 1 HD is currently not available on some platforms like Sky Glass, Sky Stream, or Now TV.
