Formula 1 teams and drivers are saddened by the news of the death of a volunteer marshal after the horrific crash at the Brands Hatch circuit 2021

This crash highlights the dangers involved in motorsports not just for drivers, but the Marshalls who continuously work on the track. The incident took place during a British Automobile Racing Club championship event when two cars made contact along the start-finish straight during the opening laps.

Crash At Brands Hatch Circuit 2021 Leads To The Death Of A Marshal

The whole situation got out of hand very quickly as one car flew off the track and caused a collision with the side barriers before crashing into the post of the marshal. The race was stopped immediately and both the driver and marshal were rushed to the hospital.

The situation of the driver is still unknown but the marshal who was at the post sadly lost his life.

In a statement, the BARC said: “The British Automobile Racing Club is saddened to confirm that as a result of an accident that occurred during a race meeting at Brands Hatch circuit today, a volunteer marshal tragically lost their life.”

We have witnessed many horrific crashes in Formula 1 which is the most dangerous motorsport where marshals play a vital role in managing the circuit. Many teams and drivers came out publicly and shared their views about the situation.

Everybody is consoling the family members and friends of those involved in a crash who lost their lives. After so many safety improvements and updates, the danger will always be present in any motorsports event which can be brutal at times.

The danger on and off the track cannot be ignored while the necessary safety measure needs to be upgraded. Otherwise, many lives would be lost in this brutal sport. The ongoing perils with racing were brought to light during the British Grand Prix 2021 as well when Lewis Hamilton ended up crashing into Max Verstappen at Silverstone.
