According to the official schedule, the Kip Keino Classic is held in Nairobi’s Kasarani Stadium every year, and is named for Olympian Kipchoge Keino. The first edition was held in 2020 as a part of the new World Athletics Continental Tour.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the Olympic champion, will finally begin her campaign in the women’s 100m, while Sha’Carri Richardson aims to carry on her exceptional performance in the 200m following her Diamond League debut in Doha. Fraser-Pryce, a five-time 100-meter world champion and the 2023 Laureus Sportswoman of the Year, will take the starting line for the first time this year. The three-time Olympic champion is the favorite to retain her Kip Keino Classic 100-meter crown as she competes against American Olympians Twanisha Terry, Daniels Teahna, & sprint champion Maximilla Imali of Kenya.
The men’s 100-meter sprint, which features local favorite Ferdinand Omanyala of Kenya, should be exciting as he attempts to retain his title against American rivals Kenneth Bednarek and Marvin Bracy. or the first time since August 2022, Olympic champion Filippo Tortu will compete. In addition to Aaron Brown, Kyree King, and Isaac Makwala, he is a star in the men’s 200-meter race.
