2022 Kip Keino Classic Race Track, Schedule, Venue, Date, Time, and Participants
History of Kip Keino Classic and Race Track
The Kip Keino Classic is a track and field event named after Kenyan Olympian Kipchoge Keino and held at the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya. As part of the inaugural World Athletics Continental Tour, the first edition took place in 2020.
Because the venue is 1,612 metres above sea level, just over a mile above sea level, all records set here are considered at altitude, which is advantageous to short, explosive events like sprinting and jumping due to lower air resistance, but disadvantageous to long distance runners due to lower oxygen availability.
The Kip Keino Classic, which was added to the Continental Tour Gold Label circuit in 2020 as the only event in Africa, will include a plethora of Olympic and world champions. The Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani stadium, which hosted the 2017 World Under 17 and 2020 World Under 20 championships, is expected to be packed with over 50,000 spectators. Fans can purchase their tickets from here.

Star Lineup in 2022 Kip Keino Classic
On Saturday in Nairobi, the 2022 Kip Keino Classic will have a potentially historic men’s 100m, featuring four of the world’s fastest men from the previous year. Olympic 100m silver medalist and sprint sensation Fred Kerley, one of the main attractions, came in Kenya on Wednesday for the third edition of the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold Label competition.
Kerley, 26, is in Nairobi for a rematch with Tokyo 2020 champion Marcel Jacobs of Italy, who defeated him to the gold medal in the Olympic final last summer.
