Christijan Albers is far from happy with the way Red Bull treats its drivers with him lambasting Helmut Marko for his treatment of Pierre Gasly
Ever since Daniel Ricciardo’s departure from Red Bull at the culmination of the 2018 Formula 1 season, the F1 team has failed to nail down on a permanent partner for Max Verstappen.
The Dutchman has ended up being paired alongside three drivers with Gasly being the first person to link up with Verstappen. The 12 raced alongside each other for 12 races before Alex Albon was drafted in and eventually Sergio Perez was roped in to slot in next to Max Verstappen.
Christijan Albers Infuriated By Manner In Which Red Bull Has Treated Pierre Gasly
The constant shuffling around at Red Bull has left a string of people irked with the side’s decision making with Gasly publicly hitting out at the side. The Frenchman recently talked about how Red Bull had overlooked him for promotion for the 2022 season as he said: “I felt based on this year I could have deserved a better chance, but that is the decision, it doesn’t stop my motivation.”
Christijan Albers has reverberated Gasly’s feelings with him going onto lash out at Helmut Marko, Red Bull’s motorsport advisor for his handling of the driver.
“The problem is just, you have these stranglehold contracts from Red Bull. The only one who doesn’t have a contract like that is Max Verstappen, but the rest just have a serious problem.
“It’s not like you can decide to go somewhere else. Then you really need Uncle Marko.
“If I’m going to look at Gasly’s performance that he’s constantly producing, but also look at life outside Formula 1, you can see that frustration that he feels f****d by Red Bull, with all due respect,” Albers said.
