Head To Head: 0-0

Denis Shapovalov and Jenson Brooksby have never faced each other before so the head to head currently is 0-0.

Prediction

In the semifinal of the 2022 Korea Open on Sunday, World Number 24 Denis Shapovalov will face off against Jenson Brooksby, who is ranked 46th.

Shapovalov maintained his consistency as he prevailed against Radu Albot in the quarterfinal in Seoul after receiving a bye in the first round and defeating Jaume Munar in the second round. The Canadian won 6-2, 6-2 in just 73 minutes to secure a spot in his second ATP semifinal of the year.

Shapovalov faced no break points throughout the entire match despite serving only 63% of his first serves in and making four breaks out of the 10 chances he had.

Shapovalov had previously been to the third round at the US Open, but it has been four months since his last three-match winning streak. Taking against the world no. 46 in an effort to decide the title, will he accomplish that this time? Before that lets have a look at his opponent’s stats.

Due to his strong performance this season, Cameron Norrie entered his quarterfinal matchup with Brooksby as the clear favourite. However, Norrie’s illness-related withdrawal one hour prior to the start of the match benefited the American. Norrie, who recently entered the top 10 in the ATP Rankings this year, experienced jet lag after travelling across the globe to compete in this event.

Considering that Brooksby hopes to participate in his third semifinal of the season, he won’t mind too much. He accomplished the same feat in Atlanta as he had earlier this year when he advanced all the way to the Dallas Open final. He came in second place in both of previous events but is hoping to win this one. However, Brooksby will need to defeat Shapovalov first in this meeting.

Given his recent form, Shapovalov is even more of a favourite. The one advantage Brooksby would have is that he would be more rested, but with only two matches played this week, Shapovalov shouldn’t be facing too much trouble.
