After defeating Hong Kong’s Ng Ka Long Angus on Tuesday, former champion Kidambi Srikanth advanced to the second round of Denmark Open Super 750 badminton competition. Returning to the location where he had won the title five years prior, the 2021 World Championships silver medalist defeated the world no. 14 Hong Kong player in a 56-minute match by scores of 17-21, 21-14, and 21-12.

The Arena Fyn in Odense, Denmark, is hosting prestigious 2022 Denmark Open, a badminton competition with a $750,000 prize pool, from October 18 to October 23. With statement victories, both Lee Zii Jia and Kidambi Srikanth kicked-off their 2022 Denmark Open campaign on high note and sealed berth in Round of 16 stage.

2022 Denmark Open Badminton Men’s Singles Results Today, Score, Winners, & Upcoming Draw

On the inaugural day of 2022 Denmark Open, Indian star Kidambi Srikanth staged a come-back win against Hong Kong’s Ng Ka-Long. During his match, Srikanth lost first set by four-points but held his nerve to dominate following two sets where he won comfortably to seal the match 17-21, 21-14, 21-12. After his win, Srikanth has advanced to second-round, where he will face seventh-seed former world champion Loh Kean Yew.

Lee Zii Jia and Loh Kean Yew of Malaysia have both advanced to round two. To set up a clash with Japan’s Tsuneyama Kanta in second round, fourth-seed Lee Zii Jia quickly dispatched France’s Mark Caljouw in straight sets with score of 21-15, 21-10 in just 36 minutes. Meanwhile 2021 world champion Loh won his tie agaist Thailand’s Sitthikom Thammasin in straight sets by score of 21-13, 22-20 within just 42 minutes.

The current world champion and top seed Viktor Axelsen is the clear favorite, according to bookies, because of his recent unbeaten run. Anders Antonsen, a third-seeded local star, is a contender for the championship as well. Tickets can be bought from here.

Points Award System

The 2022 Denmark Open, a BWF World Tour Super 750 event, will give points in accordance with the BWF point distribution method. According to this method, the winner of men’s singles tournament will receive 11,000 BWF points, while the runner-up will receive 9,350 points. Indian stars HS Prannoy, Kidambi Srikanth, & Lakshya Sen all have great opportunity to bag huge amount of BWF points from this tournament and move up in the BWF World Rankings.

Prize Money Pool Distribution

When prizes are distributed in accordance with BWF rules, the total prize pool for the 2022 Denmark Open will be $750,000. According to the rules, the winner of the men’s singles competition will get $52,500 in prize money from this pool, while the runner-up will receive a total of $25,500.
