On Wednesday, Indonesia secured a 4-1 victory against the defending champions India to conclude as Group C winner at the 2024 Thomas Cup. Surprisingly, India seized an early lead when world number nine HS Prannoy defeated Anthony Ginting 13-21, 21-12, 21-12. However, in the first doubles, the Indonesian duo Shohibul Fikri / Bagas Maulana fought fiercely against S Rankireddy / Chirag Shetty to win 24-22, 22-24, 21-19 and make it 1-1.
Following that, Jonatan Christie won 21-18, 16-21, 21-17 against Lakshya Sen in the subsequent match. In the fourth match, Leo Rolly Carnando / Daniel Marthin defeated Dhruv Kapila / Sai Pratheek 22-20, 21-11 in just 38 minutes, securing Indonesia’s victory. Despite Kidambi Srikanth’s best efforts in the final game, he succumbed to defeat, resulting in Indonesia clinching the tie 4-1.
