Indian sprinter Dutee Chand is dating her longtime girlfriend Monalisa. She told her supporters and people who liked her about this on Twitter as posted a picture from her sister’s wedding along with a tweet that said, “Loved yesterday, love you still, always have, always will.” There is no news yet on when Dutee will get married though.

India is where Dutee Chand was born on February 3, 1996. She is a professional sprinter. The national champion in the women’s 100-meter race is the daughter of Chakradhar Chand and Akhuji Chand. She is a female by gender with her height at 1.5m.

She lives in the Odisha village of Chaka Gopalpur in the Jajpur district. A person with a low income was the first Indian to win a gold medal in the 100-meter race at an international event.

Dutee Chand: Career

In 2012, Dutee Chand won the national championship for athletes under 18 by running 100 metres in 11.85 seconds. She is the national champion in the 100-meter race right now. P. T. Usha ran in the 1980 Olympics in Moscow.

36 years later, Chand, who once had to sit out because of IAAF rules on hyperandrogenism, qualified for the Women’s 100 m event at the 2016 Olympics in Rio. In 2016, the state-run Odisha Mining Corporation hired her as an assistant manager (OMC). Chand earns Rs. 50,000 each month as part of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports flagship programme, The Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS).

She is only the third Indian woman to ever qualify for the 100-meter race at the Olympics. In the preliminary round of the 2016 Summer Olympics, she finished in 11.69 seconds, but that wasn’t enough to move on.

In 2018, Chand won silver in the 100-meter race for women at the Asian Games in Jakarta. Since 1998, India had not won a medal at this event. She ran the 100-meter race in 11.32 seconds to become the first Indian sprinter to win gold at the Universiade in 2019.

  • Won the 100-meter race in the Under-18 division at the 2012 National Athletics Championship in Lucknow.
  • 2013: Won the bronze medal in the 200 m at the Asian Championships in Pune, India.
  • At the 2013 World Youth Championships in Ukraine, he was the first Indian to get to the finals of the 100-meter race.
  • At the 2013 National Athletics Championships in Bangalore, he won both the 100-meter and 200-meter races.
  • In June 2014, she won two gold medals in the 200-meter and 4×400-meter relays at the Asian Junior Athletics Championships.
  • Won the gold medal at the 2016 Federation Cup National Athletics Championships in New Delhi in the 100-meter dash for women.
  • In the qualifying round for the 2016 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships, she ran the 60-meter race in 7.28 seconds, which was a new national record for India. She won the bronze medal in the competition with a time of 7.37 seconds.
  • She ran the 100-meter race for women at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She was the third Indian woman to do so.
  • In 2017, she won two bronze medals at the Asian Athletics Championships. One was for the women’s 100-meter race, and the other was for the women’s 4 x 100-meter relay.
  • With a time of 11.32 seconds in the 100-meter final for women on August 26, she won her first medal of the 2018 Asian Games. On August 29, she won her second silver medal at the Asian Games by coming in second in the 200-meter final for women.
  • At the 2019 Summer Universiade in Naples, she became the first Indian woman to win gold in a running event at the Universiade. She won a gold medal in the 100-meter sprint in 11.32 seconds.
  • In 2020, she won the Arjuna Award.

Dutee Chand: Personal Life

In 2013, Dutee tried her luck at law school at KIIT University. She had already walked many miles. Now, she works as an executive officer for the state-owned The Odisha Mining Corporation Ltd., which is a PSU. In 2019, she told the public that she is in a relationship with someone of the same gender. This made her the first openly gay athlete in India.

She said that the 2018 decision by the Indian Supreme Court to stop criminalising gay sex gave her the courage to talk about her sexuality in public and say that she was in a same-sex relationship. She has been with Monalisa for a long time, and they are now married.
