The Nerazzurri secured a nail-biting 1-0 victory over Napoli in the final held in Riyadh on Monday night, courtesy of a 91st-minute goal by captain and standout player Lautaro Martinez.

Notably, this marked Coach Simone Inzaghiโs fifth Supercoppa title, establishing a new record. In the wake of their success, Inter wasted no time and promptly boarded a flight back to Italy. The team is now gearing up for their upcoming Serie A encounter against Fiorentina on January 28.
Meanwhile, ahead of the finale, Supercoppa Italiana in Saudi Arabia, featured a four-team tournament with substantial prize money.
Prize Money
The distribution of prize money among the participating teams, as per reports, sees a total allocation of $25 million by the Italian soccer governing body. The lion’s share of the prize money, nearly $9 million, will go to the team emerging victorious in the Supercoppa Italiana final between Napoli and Inter Milan. Inter Milan eventually won 1-0 to take home the prize money.

The runner-up in that fixture will receive $5.5 million. The remaining two teams, Lazio and Fiorentina, finishing third and fourth, respectively, will each earn $2 million.
Notably, both Lazio and Fiorentina suffered 3-0 defeats in the Supercoppa semifinals. Even teams that did not participate in the Supercoppa Italiana, including the 16 Serie A clubs still in Italy, will receive a portion of the prize money.
This financial distribution is influenced by the new tournament format and its location in Saudi Arabia, which has actively sought to host more European football tournaments.
Napoli vs Fiorentina
Besides the Supercoppa Italiana, Saudi Arabia hosted the Supercopa de Espaรฑa for the second consecutive year, displaying the countryโs commitment to bringing top clubs like Napoli, Inter Milan, Fiorentina, and Lazio to its shores.
Despite the welcomed increase in revenue from the Supercoppa Italiana, fans have expressed reservations about the tournament being held in the Middle East. The Al-Awwal Stadium, with a capacity of 25,000, saw only 7,000 spectators attending the final between Napoli and Fiorentina.
Reports suggest that financial concerns deterred fans and ultras from making the trip to Saudi Arabia. While the financial boost from the tournament benefits Serie A in staying competitive in the transfer market and bolstering the leagueโs profile, the move to Saudi Arabia has its drawbacks.
The sacrifice of hosting meaningful games in Italy has led to dissatisfaction among fans.
