Prime Minister Liz Truss, who had just been appointed as UK’s Prime Minister, chose Braverman to be her home secretary.

Who Is Suella Braverman?
Suella Braverman is a well-known UK attorney and politician. She has been in the news because she was recently appointed as the UK Home Secretary.
Her real name is Sue-Ellen Cassiana Fernandes. She was born on 3 April 1980 in Harrow, London, England. She was raised in Wembley. Her parents are Uma and Christie Fernandes, two immigrants of Indian descent who came to Britain from Kenya and Mauritius, respectively, in the 1960s.
She attended Heathfield School in Pinner and the Uxendon Manor Primary School in Brent before studying law at Queen’s College in Cambridge.
She obtained a master’s degree in European and French law at Panthéon-Sorbonne University while residing in France for two years as an Erasmus Program student and then as an Entente Cordiale Scholar.
She is married to Rael Braverman and they both have two children together.
She is currently 42 years old. Braverman is a member of the Triratna Buddhist Community (formerly the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order) and attends the London Buddhist Centre monthly and took her oath of office on the Dhammapada.
Her Career
From 2020 until 2022, Suella Braverman served as England and Wales’ Attorney General. Since 2015, she has served as the Hampshire town of Fareham’s Member of Parliament (MP). She presided over the European Research Group as a member of the Conservative Party from 19 June 2017 until 9 January 2018.
She was appointed by Theresa May to the position of Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union in the January 2018 cabinet reshuffle. Later that year, after quitting in opposition to the planned Northern Ireland backstop, she returned to the opposition benches.
In the February 2020 cabinet reshuffle, Boris Johnson named Braverman as the Attorney General for England and Wales and the Advocate General for Northern Ireland. She also received an automatic appointment as Queen’s Counsel.
Braverman was a contender to succeed Johnson in the Conservative Party leadership race when he resigned in July 2022, but she was dropped from the race after the second round of voting.
Following that, she backed Liz Truss’ campaign for Conservative leader. Braverman was named home secretary by Truss when she was chosen as prime minister.
