2022 Yashin Trophy Shortlist, Award Ceremony Schedule, Date, Venue, And Other Details
The Yashin Trophy’s 10-person shortlist has been made public by France Football. The prize is given to the finest goalkeeper in international football, and the 2022 edition will be the first to use season-based scoring instead of calendar-year scoring. Since its inception, the Yashin Trophy has only had two winners: Alisson in 2019 and Gianluigi Donnarumma in 2021. The winner will be declared at the Ballon d’Or 2022 ceremony on 17 October.
The shortlist includes four goalkeepers from the Premier League and four from La Liga. The Premier League is represented by Alisson, Ederson, Chelsea’s Edouard Mendy, and Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris. Courtois, Jan Oblak of Atletico Madrid, and Yassine Bounou of Sevilla all made the panel’s shortlist of nominees from La Liga. Surprisingly, Donnarumma, who helped Italy win Euro 2020 last summer was not selected as a part of the 10-man shortlist.
The Yashin Trophy will be handed out to the winner during Ballon d’Or ceremony, which will once again take place in Paris and is scheduled on October 17th, 2022.
2022 Yashin Trophy Full Shortlist and Winner Prediction
Alisson is nominated for the honor once more this year following another outstanding campaign for Liverpool, who participated in all games in all competitions. Thibaut Courtois of Real Madrid will be difficult to stop, though, after an incredible run with Los Blancos to Champions League success, where he was named man of the match after a superb performance against Liverpool.
