In just over two years, he managed the club for 97 games and secured seven trophies. His success made a contract extension inevitable, and in 2023, Xavi committed to staying at the helm until 2025.

While initial reports suggested a contract until 2026, Xavi and the club settled on a deal that would keep him in charge until 2025.

The exact figures of his salary have been a topic of speculation, but it is believed that Xavi was insistent on a net salary of approximately $13 million (£10 million, €12 million) for his contract renewal.

In addition to his own salary, he also negotiated a combined gross salary of $32 million (£26 million, €29million) for himself and his staff.

The new contract includes a one-year extension clause, but its activation depends on the club’s performance. To secure Xavi’s services until 2026, Barcelona must continue to excel on the pitch.

At a net worth of $40 million (£32 million, €37 million) in 2023 Xavi’s tenure as manager has been nothing short of remarkable. In his first season, he guided Barcelona to their first La Liga victory since 2019, signaling a resurgence in the club’s fortunes.

The team’s performance in the current Champions League season has also been promising, with a resounding 5-0 victory against Royal Antwerp FC in their opening match.

His salary has seen a substantial increase, doubling from the initial $4.5 million per season to approximately $8.5 million (£6.9 million, €7.9 million) per season. This significant pay bump is a testament to the impact he has had on the team’s performance.

Xavi initially accepted a lower salary of $4.5 million (£3.6 million, €4.2 million) per season due to the club’s financial constraints. However, his achievements and contributions have warranted a substantial raise.

Despite this raise, Xavi’s salary remains below that of managers at other top European clubs, such as Ronald Koeman, who earned $9.6 (£7.8 million, €8.9 million) million annually during his tenure at Camp Nou.

The additional year option is contingent on the club’s success in La Liga or the UEFA Champions League, providing added motivation for the team to perform at their best.
