Within the context of the six-star Contender series events, participation is limited to the top 30 players, with six obligatory players drawn from the top 20 in the world rankings. The tournament boasts an impressive prize pool of USD 250,000, with significant ranking points at stake. Additionally, it functions as a qualifying platform for the WTT Cup Finals and WTT Champions Series.

In its first edition in 2023, WTT Star Contender Goa drew the participation of top players globally, such as Fan Zhendong, Tomokazu Harimoto, Wang Yidi, and Hina Hayata. Noteworthy is the representation of Indian players, with 40 contenders in the event. In 2023, Liang Jingkun and Wang Yidi, secured victory in the men’s and women’s singles categories. Stupa Sports Analytics and Ultimate Table Tennis co-host the tournament, operating under the guidance of TTFI.

WTT Star Contender Goa 2024 main draw, Indian paddlers, & top-ranked players

For the upcoming 2024 WTT Star Contender Goa, a total of 48 players will feature in the main draw for both men’s and women’s singles events. Simultaneously, 16 pairs will participate in the main draw for the men’s and women’s doubles categories, while eight pairs will vie for honors in the mixed doubles category.


The initial roster of players for the upcoming event has been unveiled, featuring a mix of global superstars and local Indian talents. Anticipation surrounds the event, with the Indian team expected to receive significant support from the local crowd. This presents a noteworthy opportunity for prominent Indian players such as Harmeet Desai, Achanta, Manika Batra, Sreeja Akula, Sathiyan, Manav Thakkar, and Manush Shah to make their mark in a major competition.

In the Men’s category, the top five players confirmed so far include Hugo Calderano (WR #5), Felix Lebrun (WR #8), Jang Woojin (WR #10), Dimitrij Ovtcharov (WR #12), and Dang Qiu (WR #13). On the Women’s side, the leading five players revealed are Shin Yubin (WR #9), Xiaoxin Yang (WR #14), Joo Chenhui (WR #16), Cheng I-Ching (WR #18), and Nina Mittelhan (WR #21).
