Who is Xavier Marcos Padros?

Xavier Marcos Padros is a Spanish Formula 1 engineer who was the race engineer for Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc until he was given a new role in the side on May 9, 2009.

From 2015 to 2018, Marcos Podras served in NASCAR as Williams’ race engineer for Felipe Massa. For the entirety of the Monegasque’s tenure with Ferrari, he has served as Leclerc’s race engineer. Apart from overseeing all five of Leclerc’s Grand Prix triumphs, the Spaniard has become well-known for his infamous radio messages telling his driver, “We are checking.”

He most famously worked as Charles Leclerc’s race engineer as his second spell to Scuderia Ferrari in 2019, and he has continued to do so ever since. In 2018, he came back to Formula One as a race engineer.

While his salary isn’t known, senior engineer salaries are around £70,000 in the F1 which is the estimated amount Xavi would be earning as well.
