Carlos Corberan agreed to a three-year contract on December 24, 2024, to take over as head coach of Valencia, a team in La Liga.

It appears that Sergi Canos will be the first Valencia CF player to leave during the forthcoming summer transfer window. Carlos Corberan has no intentions for the Nules player, and unless anything significant changes in the next few days, he will not be playing for Mestalla in the future.

There is no doubt about the winger’s predicament, he lacks the coach’s trust and has played very little this season. Since Corberan took over, he has hardly played 80 minutes in the league and has only contributed one assist. Even if he has contributed a few more goals and assists in the Copa del Rey, it hasn’t been enough to change his standing in the team.

Reports from ‘ElDesmarque’ state that the athlete, the coaching staff, and the sports management all agree that it would be preferable to split up in the summer. In order to revitalize his career, he will look for a new home, most likely a loan, if he is unable to improve his circumstances in the final eight games of the season.

Carlos Corberan was born on April 7, 1983, in Cheste, Valencian Community and is 6ft 2in tall. After meeting Vanesa Claudia Mansila who is Spanish while he was employed in Leeds, Corberan, the two got married.

His two sons are British and Spanish, both born in England. They are named Marcos and Dario, the latter born in 2024 while Marcos was born in 2022.

Vanesa, is also her husband’s biggest supporter but pulls no punches when it comes to tactical discussions and analysing the head coach’s performance, Carlos had previously revealed when talking about his wife’s knowledge of the game.

During his youth, he played for Valencia and his hometown team, CD Cheste.

Corberan grew up in the municipality of Cheste, just outside of the city Valencia and as a goalkeeper, he joined Valencia’s youth ranks but did not manage to reach the first team.

He started his senior career with Valencia B as a goalie before relocating to Burjassot and Ribarroja. He played no higher than Tercera Division before deciding to quit in 2006 at the age of 23 to follow his dream of becoming a coach.

Carlos Corberan career

After a short playing career and time in the back room staff of several clubs, the Spaniard was a part of the 2019/20 Leeds United team that won promotion to the Premier League by winning the title.

Following his retirement, Carlos Corberan began serving as a fitness coach for Villarreal’s C and B teams. Juan Carlos Garrido was designated the main squad’s fitness coach in 2011 following his promotion to the first team.

On Pep Guardiola’s recommendation, Corberan joined head coach Raúl Caneda at the Saudi Arabian team Al-Ittihad in February 2012. He served as the team’s fitness coach while there and assisted in leading the team to the AFC Champions League semifinals.

After taking over Doxa in the Cypriot First Division on November 29, 2016, Carlos Corberan gained his first experience as a senior manager. Corberan was named the new Leeds United under-23 manager on June 21, 2017, taking Jason Blunt’s place.

Corberan was elevated to first team coach and kept his position as Under 23 coaches with the hiring of Marcelo Bielsa as new head coach in June 2018. Corberan accepted an opportunity to become head coach of Huddersfield Town in July 2020, and on July 23rd, his employment was officially confirmed. Corberan was named Olympiacos’ head coach on August 1, 2022.

Valencia had paid Albion £2.8million required to release the manager from his contract at the club before signing him but his salary at the Spanish side isn’t known yet. His net worth stands between $1-5 million.

Since Carlos took over, Valencia’s numbers improved with the new manager lifting them to 10th in expected points per game (1.47) and in 14 games since Carlos Corberán took over, Valencia have conceded 25 goals.

At the start of his term in Valencia, Corberán played with a standard 4-2-3-1 formation but the last couple of games, Corberán had his men line up in a 3-4-2-1 formation from the start.
