Sisters and musicians Ranjani and Gayatri withdrew from the December Music Season which is one of the biggest yearly music festivals in the nation. The reason behind not participating is that the conference will be presided over by Mr. TM Krishna.
Following the announcement by Ranjani-Gayatri, the Trichur Brothers also announced on social media that they were withdrawing from this year’s Academy Annual Music Conference due to their belief that Krishna believes and propagates a value system that is diametrically opposite to their core values.
48-year-old Thodur Madabusi aka T. M. Krishna was born on January 22, 1976, in Madras. He stands at 175 centimetres tall and weighs 68 kilograms. He was born in a family of businessmen and took an interest in music at the age of 6. He is a Hindu by religion.
T.M. Krishna is the son of T. M. Rangachari and Prema Rangachari. In Anaikatti, Tamil Nadu, his mother and her maternal uncle Dr. Sriram Subramaniam established and oversaw Vidya Vanam, a school for tribal and disadvantaged children. T.M. Krishna is the great nephew of T. T.
Krishna was among the first members of the Madras Music Academy. He graduated from Chennai’s The School (Krishnamurti Foundation of India). He has two children with his wife who is the renowned carnatic singer Sangeetha Sivakumar.
T.M. Krishna’s parents ensured he received exposure to classical music from a young age. He had specific tuition in Ragam Thanam Pallavi with famous musicians Chingleput Ranganathan and Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer after beginning his musical studies under Bhagavathula Seetharama Sharma.

He also focuses on reviving the traditional form of Neraval, an improvisational technique, and has been criticized for deviating from the traditional concert format by inserting varnams in the middle of his performances. T.M. Krishna made his stage debut at the Music Academy in Chennai, India’s Spirit of Youth series, when he was twelve years old.
Subsequently, he has given several performances in festivals and locations all over the world, such as the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, the Madras Music Academy, the John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts, the National Centre for the Performing Arts (India), and others.
T.M. Krishna has authored several books, including “A Southern Music: The Carnatic Story” and “Sebastian And Sons: A brief history of Mrdangam makers.” His articles have been published in leading Indian newspapers and magazines.
