For those who are unfamiliar with the situation, let us tell you, the 24-year-old player who is a safety with the Buffalo Bills left everyone shocked and emotional after he suffered a critical condition on Monday night’s game against Cincinnati Bengals.
Hamlin went into a cardiac arrest and left everyone emotional including Hughes, who saw the footballer stand-up after having taken a hit to his chest to walk a couple with shaky legs and then collapsing on his back.

The widow of the late NFL player seemed to recall the tragic event that happened with his husband and got all emotional.
In a conversation with the media on Tuesday, Sharon stated that, “I was very emotional.”
The 77-year-old stated that she felt an immediate bond with Hamlin’s family as she watched the tragic event.
For those who are unsure, let us tell you, Hamlin’s mother was reportedly present at the game and she rode in an ambulance with her son to the hospital in Cincinnati, which Sharon did few years ago when her husband, Chuck Hughes experienced the same thing in the field in Detroit.
The Texas native asked during her conversation, “Can you imagine how his mother felt?” before saying, “It’s a horrifying feeling, and, well, I just felt so sorry for the whole family last night.”
Let us remind you, the 28-year-old Chuck, was a wide receiver for the Detroit Lions, and took the place of an injured teammate in the fourth quarter of a game against the Chicago Bears.
During his first catch Hughes was tackled and a few seconds later he fell facedown to the ground while clutching his chest. He had suffered a fatal heart attack.
There were frantic attempts to receive him, including medical personnel who pounded on his chest but they were all unsuccessful.
During the interview, Chuck’s widow stated, “I knew something horrible had happened, because when they were rolling Chuck off the field, one of his arms fell down and his hand was flopping around back and forth, and I thought to myself, ‘Holy Christ, I think he’s dead.”
Meanwhile as the doctors continued desperate attempts in the hospital to save his life, the game resumed before a numbed crowd.
An autopsy report indicated that the late player had an undiagnosed heart disease and that a blood clot in a clogged artery had dislodged potentially due to a hit he took during the game.
The autopsy also revealed that it was most likely his second heart attack, the first one seemed to have gone unnoticed.
Chuck Hughes is survived by his wife, Sharon, their son, Brandon Shane Hughes, who was just 2 years old at the time.
On Tuesday, during her mother’s interview, Brandon who’s now 53-year-old hoped that Hamlin makes a full recovery. He also expressed that if the player’s family needed any support then they “have a support system here.”
