The Jacksonville Jaguars reportedly made the announcement of Gladstone’s appointment following a second round of interviews with five finalists, making him only the sixth full time GM at the club.
James Gladstone appointed as new Jacksonville Jaguars GM
The Jacksonville Jaguars on Friday afternoon announced that they are hiring James Gladstone as their next general manager. Shad Khan issued a statement, saying:
In the end, we found James to be a class ahead and exceptional in every regard – vision, new ideas, communication, chemistry and a keen understanding of the league and our team, to name a few of many virtues he will bring immediately to the Jaguars.”
Gladstone now becomes the youngest GM in the NFL by four years, ahead of Andrew Berry of the Cleveland Browns. He will officially come in as a replacement for Trent Baalke, who left the franchise on January 22, 2025. Gladstone will join the ranks of a young team of coaches and managers at Jacksonville. Coach Liam Coen is currently just 39, while Udinski is 29, and defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile is 42. Moreover, all four of them will serve in their new respective roles for the first time in their NFL careers.

James Gladstone is a native of St. Louis, Missouri, and the newly appointed general manager of the Jacksonville Jaguars. He is currently just 34 years old. Gladstone obtained his education from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, where he graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Following which, he obtained a master’s degree in education administration from Lindenwood University in St. Louis.
During his time at Westminster, Gladstone was a two-time captain of the football team and also received the Athlete of the Year honors. He also featured on the BSN All-American team as a wide receiver.

Before joining the NFL, Gladstone was a football coach at St. John Vianney High School. He also served as a coach at Clayton High School in the St. Louis area. He eventually joined the NFL in 2016 as the senior assistant to the general manager with the LA Rams. James has since gone on to work the franchise for the last eight NFL seasons with his last post as the Director of Scouting Strategy. Gladstone will enter his 10th season in the NFL now with the Jaguars.

James Gladstone is married to his wife, lawyer Julie, who is also a native of St. Louis with the two having a daughter together.
