Seamus Daniel Kirby was born on October 14, 1994 in Newport, Rhode Island. He was the son of Jerome R. Kirby III and Kathryn Kimberly Kirby. Kirby was married to Tatum James Wadensten. He attended Underwood School, Cluny School and Pennfield School before attending Rocky Hill Country Day School in 2013. He excelled in athletics and received many awards and accolades.

Seamus joined the Kirby Construction in 2017 after graduating with a BA in Historic Preservation and Community Planning from the College of Charleston, South Carolina.

Seamus was deeply devoted to his wife Tatum and their children Hendrix and Halsten. His joy in life knew no bounds, whether spending time with his large family, many friends, pursuing his hobbies or being at sea.

He is survived by his older brother Rome Kirby IV and children Rome Kirby V and Bailey Kirby. He is also survived by his maternal grandfather Phil Vancil, many aunts, uncles, cousins ​​and grandfathers, as well as his brothers-in-law Lars, Sven and Magnus Wadensten.

Seamus Daniel Kirby career

Seamus Daniel Kirby was involved with Newport Youth Travel Hockey and served as captain of Boys Varsity Lacrosse at Rocky Hill. Seamus received the Charley Blanchard Relentless Spirit Award and was named to the Boys Varsity Lacrosse SENEISAA First Team All-League in 2012. During his four-year varsity career, he set records for most goals, assists and games played.

Seamus won cross-country races when he was only 10 years old. At the age of 12, he had already achieved a major milestone by winning the NESC Motocross Championship in the 85cc class. His enthusiasm for the sport led to a decade of success where the room was filled with memories of his victories.

After graduating from university, he returned to his beloved island. Starting out as a project manager, he worked closely with his father, Jerry.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 27th, 2024 St. Mary’s Church, located at the corner of Spring Street and Memorial Boulevard in Newport, beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will be private.
