In 2021, Nongrang briefly served as the acting DGP of Meghalaya. Recently, she was selected as the new police chief of Meghalaya, succeeding DGP LR Bishnoi upon his retirement on May 19. Her tenure as the state’s top cop will extend until May 19, 2026.
RP Meena and Deepak Kumar were recommended by the UPSC, following the refusal of GP Singh (1991 batch) and Harmeet Singh (1992 batch) to accept the top position, officially informing the commission of their reluctance to undertake the responsibility.
Chief Minister Sangma extended congratulations to Nongrang on her elevation to the highest position, describing it as a moment of great pride.
