Who was Paramjit Singh Panjwar?
Paramjit Singh Panjwar was a Khalistani terrorist and was notorious for being the leader of the outlawed Khalistan Commando Force-Panjwar organization. He has been in the news because he was shot dead by two unidentified shooters on Saturday morning.
In 1960, he was born in the Panjwar village of Tarn Taran, Punjab, India. He worked at the Central Cooperative Bank in Sohal from 1964 to 1986. However, after being influenced by pro-Khalistani ideology, he enlisted in the Khalistan Commando Force.
Paramjit Singh Panjwar joined the KCF in 1986, and Labh Singh, the organization’s commander and a distant relative of Panjwar, had a significant impact on him. Later, when KCF split into factions, Panjwar headed one of them. He was a notorious name in the Majha region near the Pakistani border.
Later, Panjwar fled to Pakistan when the security forces’ crackdown on Khalistanis grew more severe, and he has been residing there ever since. By obtaining cash from the illegal supply of weaponry, fake Indian rupee notes, and the transnational distribution of heroin, he had managed to keep the KCF alive.
It is reported that his wife and children reside in Germany. He died on May 6, 2023, in Lahore, Pakistan. At the time of his death, he was 63 years old.
