Regis Le Bris is a French football manager and former footballer who was born on December 6, 1975, Pont-l’Abbé, France. He is currently serving as the head coach of EFL Championship club Sunderland. Regis Le Bris was raised in a sporting family, with his younger brother Benoît Le Bris also pursuing a professional football career. His nephew Théo Le Bris, is also a professional footballer, whom he coached at Lorient. Le Bris is known for his analytical approach and calm demeanor.

Regis Le Bris holds a doctorate in sport physiology and biomechanics, which he completed at Rennes 2 University, back in 2006. He mainly focused his thesis on accelerometer-based running analysis. Besides that, Le Bris also earned a DU (university diploma) in mental training for elite athletes in 2010.
Career and achievements
Regis Le Bris started out playing his career as a defender, mainly playing for clubs like Rennes, Laval, and Belgian side Ronse. Following his retirement, Le Bris transitioned into coaching in 2004 and served as a youth coach at Wasquehal. However, his coaching career took off at Rennes, where he managed to lead their U19s squad to the Championnat National U19 title in 2007. The following year, in 2008, Le Bris won the Coupe Gambardella with the U19 squad again.
Later in 2012, he joined Lorient as the new head of youth development and later coached their U17 and reserve teams. Under his leadership, players like Mattéo Guendouzi and Illan Meslier managed to rise through the ranks. Le Bris made a breakthrough in 2022, after Lorient appointed him as first-team manager, leading the side to a 10th-place finish in Ligue 1. Despite the team’s relegation in 2024, he earned respect for his long-term project and tactical clarity.
Sunderland eventually hired him in June 2024, and immediately set the ground running at the club with a perfect start to the season. The French manager has earned the EFL Championship Manager of the Month award twice during his debut season, and is now set on securing a promotion to the Premier League.
