According to media reports, the third Queen consort ‘Nomzamo Myeni’ is from KwaZulu-Natal’s Jozini and was purchased by the Zulu King for fiften cows and an undisclosed amount of money.

On May 5, 2024, Zulu Prime Minister Thulasizwe Buthelezi allegedly asked senior royal members to reimburse Nomzamo Myeni for her lobola on behalf of the King.

Sometimes referred to as “bride wealth” or “bride price,” lobolo or lobola is a property in livestock or kind that a prospective husband, or head of his family, undertakes to give to the head of a prospective wife’s family in exchange for allowing the husband to marry their daughter and for the bride’s family raising her.

Lobolo is also known as lobola in Zulu, Xhosa, Swazi, Silozi, Shona, and northern and southern Ndebele.

Nomzamo Myeni worked as a bank teller and she met the king at Nedbank. It is said that she quit her work after the King courted her.

As the matriarch of the Zulu Nation, Myeni joined Queen Nontokozo kaMayisela and Queen Nozizwe Mulela kaMakhubu of the Kingdom of Eswatini.

The pictures from their wedding ceremony were shared on social media. Myeni is seen wearing a beautiful red dress in the pictures. The wedding festivies took place in Makhonyeni Village which is Masesi’s home.

The lobola ceremony was held in Makhonyeni Village in Jozini, north of KwaZulu and the King was accompanied by the Zulu monarch’s traditional Prime Minister and Zulu royal house members.

The 41-year-old Masesi will be the queen of the eMachobeni royal palace in Ngwavuma, north of KwaZulu-Natal.

She will be living at the eMoachobeni royal palace with the king. This palace is located in Ingwavuma, Northern KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. All major ceremonies of the Zulu people take place here.

King Misuzulu mentioned that he is thankful to the members of the royal family, ancestors of his wife’s family and God for his wedding.

About King Misuzulu

Misuzulu Sinqobile kaZwelithini was born on September 23, 1974. Queen Mantfombi Dlamini Zulu, and King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu are the parents of Misuzulu. Misuzulu’s father passed away on March 12, 2021, he assumed the role of heir apparent.

His customary coronation was held on August 20, 2022, despite the fact that he was formally named king of the Zulu country on May 7, 2021. On October 29, 2022, the King was crowned and accepted by the Government.
