Qatar are hosting the tournament from November 20 till December 18, 2022. This year, the tournament features La’eeb as the official mascot, which was unveiled during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Final Draw in Doha.

La’eeb is the official mascot for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup. The mascot described as adventurous, fun, and curious was initially unveiled during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Final Draw in Doha back in 1 April 2022. The meaning behind La’eeb in Arabic is explained as ‘a super-skilled player’.
The official FIFA website describes that La’eeb “belongs to a parallel mascot-verse that is indescribable”, which simply means everyone is open to interpret its appearance. It further describes La’eeb as a mascot, created to encourage everyone to believe in themselves. It follows the notion, ‘Now is All’ and the website states “He will bring the joy of football to everyone.”
The website further adds that fans will know La’eeb as a youthful spirit, spreading joy and confidence everywhere he goes. La’eeb apparently belongs to a parallel world inhabited by tournament mascots. The parallel world is one where ideas and creativity form the basis of characters, which lives in everyone’s minds.
La’eeb’s Official Unveil
During La’eeb’s official unveil, Khalid Ali Al Mawlawi the Deputy Director General, Marketing, Communications, and Tournament Experience, Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, shared the team’s delight in unveiling La’eeb as the Official Mascot for the first FIFA World Cup in the Middle East and Arab world.
He further added how La’eeb comes from the mascot-verse an indescribable place open to everyone’s imagination in interpreting. Al Mawlawi further shared how he believed that fans everywhere will love the fun and playful mascot. The team believes that La’eeb will play a vital role in bringing together the fans during the FIFA World Cup.
