On February 18, Siddharth was discovered hanging in the dorm toilet on campus.
On Saturday, seven defendants were placed under arrest. A. Althaf, 21, from Paravoor, Kollam; V. Adithyan, 20, from Puthiyottukara in Kozhikode; E.K. Saud Rizal, 21, from Edathola Kurikkal, Malappuram; Sinjo Johnson, 22, from Odanavattom, Kollam; Muhammad Danish, 23, from Edavanna, Malappuram; and R.S. Althaf was arrested at a relative’s home in Kollam, while Ajay was apprehended in Bengaluru. At Kalpetta, the police arrested Danish, Adithyan, Saud Rizal, and Sinjo Johnson. Before the investigative team could apprehend Kashinathan, he turned himself in. Recently, Deputy Superintendent of Police T.N. Sinjo Johnson, the main accused who heinously tortured age 20 Siddharth and later issued death threats to other students, had earlier been arrested from Karunagappally, Kollam. Siddharth’s father T Jayaprakash had said that SFI’s unit in-charge, Sinjo Johnson, had masterminded all the violence against him.

In the meantime, a protest march was organized by the District Congress Committee (DCC) to the university’s Pookode offices, where it was said that the police had failed to apprehend every suspect. The police halted the demonstrators at the entrance to the university campus.
Why did Siddharth commit suicide?
The victim had endured a horrific ordeal of mob trials like violent abuse, and extreme mental torture before being discovered hanging in the college dorm bathroom. According to a fellow student who was there, Sidharth was subjected to cruel torture between February 14 and February 18. He was physically attacked and forced to march naked in front of about 130 dormitory students.
After the two belts that the accused had originally used to attack him broke, they turned to using iron rods and wire. It is said that the college dean and warden were aware of the ongoing attack, and those in charge threatened anyone who might consider reporting the issue.
Kerala should be shameful for the death of Siddharth. It aches my heart to understand the brutality that he had to go through. Even if it is any political party that is involved in this, the culprits should be punished! These psycho hooligans don't deserve a life #Kerala pic.twitter.com/cGyzpth6eh
