Jeremy Hunt: Who Is He?
On November 1, 1966, in Lambeth Hospital in Kennington, Jeremy Hunt was born. Senior Royal Navy officer Admiral Sir Nicholas Hunt was his father. His mother, Meriel Eve nee Givan, is the granddaughter of Major Henry Cooke Givan. She is now Lady Hunt.
Hunt received his education from Charterhouse before attending Magdalen College in Oxford to complete his Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. He attended the same university as Boris Johnson and David Cameron. In 1987, he was chosen as president of the Oxford University Conservative Association (OUCA), where he was active.
After winning the seat of South West Surrey in the general elections of 2005, Jeremy Hunt began his time in the House of Commons. He backed David Cameron’s campaign for prime minister and was given the title of Shadow Minister for People with Disabilities.
Hunt’s politics at the time focused on denationalising the National Health System (NHS). He proposed replacing the NHS with “a new system of health service in which people would put money into personal health accounts, which they could then use to shop about for care from public and private providers” in a pamphlet titled Direct Democracy: An Agenda For A New Model Party. The state would provide funding for those who could not afford to save enough.

2010 saw the appointment of Jeremy Hunt as Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media, and Sport. He was the driving force behind organising the 2012 Olympics in Britain. Jeremy Hunt served as Britain’s health secretary from 2012 to 2018. Hunt succeeded Boris Johnson as Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs in July 2018.
Hunt, a backbencher from 2019 to 22, made a comeback on the national political scene as a candidate for prime minister after Johnson was dismissed. He was, though, disqualified in the opening round.
After Kwasi Kwarteng’s resignation on October 14, Jeremy Hunt was named Chancellor of the Exchequer. Hunt has been married to Lucia Guo since 2009 who was born in 1978 and is from Xi’an, China. Hunt’s net worth is at 14 million pounds.
