Who is Ian Evatt?

Ian Evatt is an English football player who was born on November 19, 1981, in Coventry, England. The 42-year-old stands 6 ft 3 in (1.91 m) tall. He also played as a central defender back then, during his playing days before he started his coaching career. 

A look at Ian Evatt’s career 

Ian Evatt owns a minority stake in Bolton Wanderers because of his ownership of Football Ventures (Whites) Ltd., the team’s parent company. The former player switched from being a centre midfielder to a central defender during the course of his playing career.

He played for teams like Derby County, Northampton Town on loan, Chesterfield, Queens Park Rangers, and Blackpool and again back to Chesterfield in 2013 where he played until 2018 after which he was released.

Evatt made an official announcement of his retirement from football on July 20, 2019, after coming in as a forward late in a friendly against his former team, Blackpool, at home.

On April 23, 2018, Jack Lester departed the squad, and Evatt was announced as interim manager. Following the season, Chesterfield was demoted to the National League. On June 15, 2018, Barrow, a National League team, announced Evatt as their new head coach.

On June 24, 2020, Bolton Wanderers formally contacted Barrow intending to appoint Evatt as head coach. The deal was confirmed on 1 July 2020.
