Wall was a part of MrBeast’s weight loss challenge video and died unexpectedly during filming, leaving fans in deep shock.

MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, has finally released the video with consent from Wall’s family.

Coach Tyler Wall found dead

Tyler Wall was a popular American fitness coach who passed away suddenly on February 18, 2025. He passed away during the midst of filming MrBeast’s “Lose 100 Pounds, Win $250,000” challenge. Authorities found him dead in his apartment in Greenville, North Carolina, on Day 85 of the year-long challenge. Prior to his death, Wall had been working closely with Majd Khader, guiding him through intense workouts and providing daily support.

Cause of death

According to official reports, Tyler Wall died of mitragynine toxicity, which is a condition linked to the use of kratom. Kratom is a controversial plant-based substance known for its opioid-like effects and is linked with a high rate of addiction. Officials have reported his manner of death as an accident.

Following the news about his tragic death, MrBeast and his team issued a heartfelt statement, saying:

“It is with profound sadness that we share the unexpected passing of Coach Tyler Wall. Coach Wall was a remarkable individual whose kindness and genuine spirit touched all who knew him. His loss has left our hearts heavy with grief.”

Wall’s family reportedly encouraged the release of the video in order to honor Tyler’s legacy of hope, strength, and positivity. Majd reportedly came close to quitting the challenge after getting overwhelmed by grief but decided to finish it in Coach Wall’s memory. After posting the video, MrBeast posted on X:

I thought this was going to be a normal video, but it ended up being one of the most emotional and powerful pieces of content I’ve ever filmed.”

Tributes and condolences also came pouring in from netizens worldwide. One YouTube viewer wrote:

The plan with funds already raised supported funeral costs and a Celebration of Life and additional funds raised are being placed in Education Savings Plans for Tyler’s niece and nephew, in their names after the initial target of $20,000 was met.

Tyler Wall was 38 years old at the time of his death and stood at a height of 6 feet 2 inches tall.

Education

Coach Tyler Wall graduated from Southington High School in 2005, and later attended the University of Connecticut (UConn).

He joined Southern Connecticut State University for higher education before being transferred to UCONN Storrs and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 2009 after which he became a coach.

However, Wall tragically passed away before the challenge ended, but his impact seemingly lived on. Majd ultimately completed the challenge and won prize money of $417,650, dedicating the victory to Wall. The video has since surpassed over 86 million views on YouTube.
