Reports indicated that following the backlash, the landowner canceled the contract for the property. The property owner also revealed that he was unaware of Kim’s intention to build a mosque when the contract was signed.

As per recent reports, Daud Kim, who’s better known as Kim Jae-han, agreed to the cancellation. Kim has gained a significant following on social media, with more than 5.52 million subscribers on YouTube and 3.5 million followers on Instagram.
His content focuses on his experiences as a Korean Muslim, which has resonated with audiences worldwide.
For the unfamiliar, 32 year old Kim Kyun-woo, born on January 9, 1992 professionally known as Jay Kim, is a South Korean singer and actor, renowned for his work in the EDM trio TraxX and as a former member of SM Entertainment’s project group SM The Ballad. He changed his name to Daud Kim after converting to Islam with his wife Maria also converting with him back in 2020.
Mia had then gone onto share photos of bruises she alleged Kim inflicted on her and accused him of running away to avoid divorce proceedings. The two went onto divorce and share two sons.
He recently made headlines after announcing his conversion to Islam, adopting the name Daud Kim. Since then, he’s transitioned into a career as a YouTuber and vlogger, focusing much of his content on his journey with Islam.
His early videos explore various aspects of the religion, featuring titles like “Eid in Korea” and “Is Music Haram?” He also shared a video documenting his shahada, the Islamic profession of faith, which he took at the Seoul Central Mosque.
Payment of the Land
Now coming back to the topic at hand, Kim acquired a plot of land measuring 284.4 square meters on Yeongjong Island in Incheon for 189.2 million won, equivalent to approximately $136,500.
In a video shared on YouTube and Instagram, the online personality revealed that he had made an initial deposit of 20 million won and would settle the remaining balance next month.
While announcing the news, Kim stated, “Thanks to your support, I’ve signed a contract for a piece of land where I’ll build a mosque in Incheon. Incredibly, this day has finally come. I plan to create a prayer space and an Islamic podcast studio to promote Dawah among Koreans.”
Daud Kim Seeked Donations?
According to several media reports, Kim shared his bank details online to seek donations from his fans and followers to pay the rest amount to build a mosque.
However, the residents of Yeongjong Island in Incheon protested against the construction of the mosque as they indicated that the plot where the mosque will be built lies near residential and school areas.
His plans to build a mosque were further exacerbated by the local media channels as they reported s*x crimes that Daud Kim reportedly committed in 2019. As per local media reports, Kim was prosecuted on the charges of attempting to r*ape.
