If you’re using social media handle X, chances are you must’ve encountered a viral video of a reporter who’s caused a stir after using a curse on-air.

When it comes to TV news reporting, live camera work and on-air coverage make things even more difficult, as you have to think and react while narrating the story’s details.

CNBC-TV18 news anchor Ashmit abuses on live TV, video goes viral as channel issues apology

Sometimes a reporter might make an on-air slip (a slip of the tongue) that could be embarrassing or amusing for some people. One such similar incident occurred on Tuesday, April 23rd, involving a TV news reporter from a reputable channel.

What Exactly Happened?

A reporter named Ashmit made a mistake while reporting on a Patanjali case at the Supreme Court, getting flustered and stumbling over his words. In frustration, he swore during the live broadcast.

Although the reporter was aware that he was on air, he let out a curse word while trying to correct himself. He almost immediately realized his error, but by then, it was too late.

However, the anchor stepped in to help the reporter, quickly cutting him off and saying, “We’ll come back to that in a bit. We couldn’t hear you clearly, Ashmit.”

Channel Issue Apology

The channel also issued an apology and posted on the social media platform X/Twitter, “During a live broadcast earlier today, a reporter inadvertently used inappropriate language, not realizing he was on the air.

“We sincerely apologize for the error and will work even harder to ensure we maintain the highest standards.”

On-camera slip-ups aren’t new. However, users noted that such errors are largely human because people might succumb to the heat of the moment.

We live in a time when things go viral and are quickly forgotten, but anyone who’s ever made a mistake on live camera knows that anything said on air can become “forever.”

Social Media User’s Reaction

The video of the reporter is currently swirling across online platforms including X as netizens are pointing out their opinions about the incident.

Though most of the users are taking this incident as a part of a genuine mistake, some are taking it as irresponsible and reckless behavior, while others are taking it as an entertaining thing.

One such user, who shared the video on X captioned it, “Tell me you are from Delhi without .. Telling me you are from Delhi.” Another wrote, “Mitti paaa. Human error… Hope he doesn’t get fired. He is a great reporter.”
