In 2015, Ivory Coast made it to the semifinals in Equatorial Guinea, where they went on to win the event twice after defeating the Democratic Republic of Congo 3-1. Who is Emerse Fae?

Emerse Fae is a former midfielder for the Ivory Coast national football team who was born on January 24, 1984 in Nantes, France. Currently, he serves as the team’s interim manager. The 40-year-old stands 1.73 m (5 ft 8 in) tall.

At the youth international level, he represented France, and at the senior international level, he represented Ivory Coast. He has played teams like Nantes, the then-Ligue 1 side team where he started his senior career. He then moved to Reading and Nice, after starting his youth career with with USSA Vertou. Talking about his managerial career, Fae joined Nice’s training facility for the 2012–13 season to complete his football coaching certifications.

He led their under-17 team in 2018–19 after three seasons as an assistant coach. He took over as head coach of the Clermont reserve team on July 8, 2021. He succeeded Jean-Louis Gasset as manager of the Ivory Coast U23 team and assistant coach of the senior squad on May 20, 2022.

Following Gasset’s resignation, Fae was named Ivory Coast’s caretaker during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations round of 16. This happened on January 24, 2024.
