Dr LN Danwade of the Pune Justice Juveline Board granted bail to 17-year-old Vedant Agarwal after he was involved in a deadly vehicle accident that resulted in the deaths of two people.

The judgement by L N Danwade in Vedant Agarwal’s case has left many people shocked. Anis Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta aged 25, both IT professionals from Madhya Pradesh, were killed in the early hours of Sunday morning after an expensive Porsche, driven by the adolescent, collided with a motorbike in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar neighbourhood. The vehicle was seen on camera moving in a small lane at an estimated 200 kmph.

In addition to detaining the owners of two clubs where the young boy was given alcohol, Pune Police also detained the boy’s father Vishal. The case has been transferred to Pune Police’s crime section. It was a terrible result of the teenager’s careless celebration of his class 12 results. Incredibly, the court has been generous in its approach, despite the seriousness of the case.

The father of the youngster and owner of Brahma Realty, Vishal Agarwal is in legal custody after being charged under sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act for deliberate neglect and giving intoxicating substances to a minor. In the meantime, the bar owners are being prosecuted for openly supplying alcohol to a juvenile, which is against the state’s twenty-five-year-old legal drinking age.

Who is L N Danwade?

Dr. L N Danwade is a non-judicial member of the JJB, Pune. Due to a holiday as it was Sunday, the Principal Magistrate and the other non-judicial members were not present during the judgement in 17 year old Vedant Agarwal’s accident case.

Vedant Agarwal was presented before the holiday court. The Juvenile Justice Board’s (JJB) Dr. L.N. Danwade represented the court when it granted the juvenile bail within 14 hours of the crime. This decision has drawn a lot of criticism.

The juvenile’s offence was not seen by the court as significant. It appears that hitting the speed limit of 200 kmph and killing two defenceless IT engineers who were just coming home from a get-together is not a serious crime.

Apart from the 300-word essay, the suspect was asked to learn the traffic rules and submit a report within 15 days and the teenager’s parents will have to ensure that he doesn’t repeat the offence, stays away from ‘bad company’ and that he appears before the Juvenile Justice Board as per the terms of the bail.

Vedant will also have to go through ‘mandatory counselling’, however his bail has now been cancelled with him sent to custody after his father was arrested.

Devendra Fadnavis, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and the Minister in charge of Home Affairs, expressed amazement on Tuesday at the “very lenient” bail that the Juvenile Justice Board awarded the 17-year-old kid despite his alleged speeding Porsche crash killing two people in Pune.
