The 18-year-old will have to make a big decision in the coming months. Both the United States and Argentina have recently indicated interest in having Benji Cremaschi represent them on an international level.
He has played for both countries’ youth teams. In September 2022, he was first called up to the U.S. U-19 team for the Slovenia Nations Cup, where he scored two goals. He later participated in a U.S. U-20 training camp in preparation for the U-20 World Cup in 2023, though he was ultimately left off of the final squad.
A few months later, he was contacted by Argentina’s U-20 squad regarding a training camp in advance of the 2023 South American U-20 championships, but once again, he was not chosen for the final roster. When called upon, he was the only player in the entire camp who had played his club football outside of Argentina, demonstrating his obvious influence on the talent pool.
