Recent controversy involving dbrand
On Monday, April 8, Bhuwan Chitransh complained on social networking site X about the brand’s MacBook skin changing colour after only two months of purchase. “I purchased this skin a few months ago from @dbrand. Not even able to hold onto the same colour after two months. How should I proceed? “Chitransh shared a photo of the MacBook skin on Twitter.
Dbrand insulted Pune-based software engineer Chitransh’s last name in a written declaration. It said, “Be serious, your last name is basically s**t rash.”
The post has garnered more than 7 million views on X, with one user expressing disbelief at the acceptance of racism by some adults in 2024. “Grow up, people. Understanding common decency doesn’t require you to be a minority,” they remarked.
Another user remarked, “You’ve clearly crossed a line here, mate.” There’s no way to recover from this.” A third user criticized the brand, stating, “Making fun of a foreign name and potentially alienating a market of over 1 billion people is not cool. They probably won’t ever buy your products now.”
The company also mentioned that they mocked Chitransh’s name after a customer support interaction. “We mocked his name after the customer support interaction,” they clarified.
In response to the Indian engineer’s complaint, Dbrand advised, “Like most surfaces, dirt and grime can accumulate on the surface of a skin over time. You can clean it using a microfiber cloth lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol.”
