Flamengo’s stars have publicly proclaimed their desire to unseat Real Madrid, with Filipe Luis being the first to provoke hatred when he said that Flamengo was targeting the Spanish club.

Former left-back for Atletico Madrid Luis claimed after the Copa final that “Madrid had taken away two Champions,” presumably in reference to the two Champions League final losses Real Madrid suffered at the hands of Atletico to Real. Now, he wants retribution for losing two UCL finals to Real Madrid.

Even Arturo Vidal did not hold back.

Arturo Vidal, a current Flamengo footballer from Brazil who previously played for Bayern Munich, Juventus, and Barcelona, just assisted his team in winning the Copa Libertadores. The 35-year-old midfielder’s squad defeated Club Athletico Paranaense 1-0 in the Copa Libertadores championship game. That automatically qualifies his squad for the Club World Cup, where Real Madrid will also participate as a result of winning the Champions League.

Naturally, Vidal has long been a vociferous “hater” of Real Madrid and has stoked the flames with remarks both before and after numerous matches he has played against Real Madrid. Vidal had made 96 appearances for Barcelona between 2018 and 2020. Real Madrid typically responds by humiliating his club on the field rather than with words.

Vidal declared following the match, “Madrid, we are going to break your a**.” In the locker room of Flamengo, chants of “Real Madrid, your time is going to come” also started. Flamengo will undoubtedly be motivated for their matchup with Real Madrid.

What Will Vidal Do Next?

The Club World Cup is anticipated to take place in February of next year, though an official date and location have yet to be announced.
