The video of Nikita Mazepin blocking Lewis Hamilton at the Turkish GP 2021 shows him paying no heed to the blue flag
Back in May of this year, Haas’ Nikita Mazepin had talked about how he would take some time to learn what the blue flag meant and what to do when it was shown after he was penalised for holding up Sergio Perez during the Portuguese Grand Prix.

Fast forward to October and Mazepin still hasn’t managed to wrap his head around what the blue flag means. The Haas driver was back with his antics at the Turkish Grand Prix on Sunday as he ended up blocking Lewis Hamilton on turn 11, swerving right infront of him as the Mercedes man tried to lap him.

Despite the blue flag being shown, Mazepin decided to pay no heed to it. While he did move out of Hamilton’s way at first, the Haas man for some bemusing reason decided to block Hamilton out at the last moment with a gargantuan crash being just about staved.
The blue flag in Formula 1 states that a driver who is one or more lap behind the driver behind him must make way for the faster driver to overtake him. And with Mazepin deciding to completely quash the rule, the stewards are likely to call him in with a punishment impending.
“I was dealing with these blue flag in Imola for the first time in my life. I previously never had a blue flag on a consistent basis.
“So it’s a matter of learning just the same as driving. And it took me about five, seven years to learn proper driving and it’s going to take me, hopefully, a few race weekends only to learn blue flags,” Mazepin had said after blocking Perez during the Portuguese GP.
