A sting operation done by India Today shows top police officers revealing how they had informed by the Punjab government of PM Narendra Modi’s security lapse

Ever since the unprecedented security lapse took place as PM Narendra Modi arrived in Punjab and traveled from the Bhatinda airport to Ferozepur through road to inagurate development projects worth Rs.42,750 crore, a massive political slugfest eurpted.

As the BJP came out in full strength, backed by the brouhaha across the country over the lapse to lambast the Congress, the Congress who is currently the ruling party in Punjab tried to guise the incident by claiming the PM had gone back due to a no show at his rally. However, vidoes on social media platforms refuted the outlandish claims with supporters seen thronging the venue despite inclement weather.

Sting Operation Reveals How Punjab Government Refused To Act Upon PM Modi’s Security Lapse

A sting operation done by India Today has now revealed that the Punjab Government was fully aware of the security threat ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit and what could transpire on the day of his arrival. However, despite being provided manifold reports and being asked to take action to clear the protestors, the police was asked to not take any action.

The video also shows the top cops in the state revealing how the government had also ignored their reports of people violently blocking BJP workers going to the rally with them also asserting that the protestors weren’t farmers but radicals who posed a serious security threat to the PM.

India Today channel reporters met Ferozepur’s Deputy Superintendent of Police Sukhdev Singh and asked him about the incident with the Deputy SP saying that a report was sent on January 2 to the Additional Director General of Police about the plan to stop traffic on key roads.

The officer said that the Baldev Singh Zira group (Bharatiya Kisan Union Krantikari-Phul) had planned to assemble, information which was shared with the SSP.

“They marched and broke barricades. When they staged the blockade, we informed again,” he said.

“At 11.45 am, the agitating farmers gathered and started walking towards Moga road. This message was received by them at 12.07 pm. At 12.20, the protestors broke the Ferozshah barricade and started moving on the same road on which the Prime Minister was supposed to travel. I sent that message at 12.32 pm,” the police officer continued.

Station House Officer Birbal Singh at the Kulgarhi police station in Ferozepur said, “Some people are angry. They had assembled. What can we do? The government didn’t order us to beat them up.”

As per protocols, shops in the vicinity have to remain closed whenever an Indian PM passing. However, one shopkeeper revealed that his shop was open throughout the day with no one from the police asking him to remain shut, another violation of the stringent norms.
