Serbians have gathered in large numbers outside the Australian embassy in Belgrade to protest against Novak Djokovic not being allowed entry in Australia
Initially set to miss out on the Australian Open 2022 and a chance to defend his crown after adamantly refusing to get the COVID vaccine, Novak Djokovic was given a fresh lease of life after he was granted a medical exemption.

The news received colossal backlash in Australia with citizens of the country livid at the government’s decision to allow the Serbian to entry the country despite the stringent COVID protocols instilled. And as Djokovic made his way to Australia, he was quizzed by the border security who subsequently went onto cancel his visa after he failed to provide substantial evidence to back his vaccine exemption.

Currently housed in a federal circuit house in Australia in self isolation as he faces news on his deportation come Monday, Djokovic has seen the support for him grow in Serbia. The country’s citizens have accused Australia of holding him as a prisoner along with holding widespread protests outside the Australian Embassy in Belgrade.
Visuals from the city show numbers swell as the days pass with some people also seen vandalizing the building, throwing tennis balls at the embassy. Djokovic’s lawyers have meanwhile claimed the Serb had tested positive for COVID on December 16 and should be henceforth allowed to play in the Australian Open.
In the aftermath of this latest developments, pictures have come to light of a COVID positive Djokovic attending a tennis event in Belgrade with him seen interacting with 20 young players without even wearing a mask.
